First Shoes. Now...T-shirts!

| No TrackBacks
Since 2008, WCC campuses have enthusiastically participated in the annual Zappos.com WCC Shoe Drive to benefit Soles4Souls, a charity based out of Nashville, TN that has donated over 16 million pairs of new and gently worn shoes. In just three years' time, WCC schools have combined to donate over 26,900 pairs of shoes to Soles4Souls to be distributed to those in need worldwide!

This year, the drive brings two new and exciting changes: 1) a new contender in new conference member BYU, and 2) a switch from collecting shoes to collecting T-shirts. And though it will be a change, we are confident that our schools will continue to blow away in donations and give back more than ever before. And on top of that, we still get to benefit the Soles4Souls family by donating to a division of their organization called Clothes4Souls.

So WCC community, your chance to support your school in the inaugural Zappos.com WCC T-Shirt Drive is coming up soon! It starts on December 5 and will end on February 27, just in time for the 2012 Zappos.com WCC Basketball Championships.

If you would like to learn more about Soles4Souls and its Clothes4Souls division, visit Soles4Souls.org or visit one of our schools when the Soles4Souls RV Tour hits it!

The WCC will host three REPRESENT weeks during the 2011-12 school year---one each in the fall, winter and spring athletic season. During REPRESENT Week, SAAC representatives will host REPRESENT events on campus to educate students, fans and other members of the local community about good sportsmanship.

Also during REPRESENT week, the Conference office will host a REPRESENT campaign on the WCC's official Facebook page and Twitter site to encourage WCC teams and schools to rally around the campaign by engaging in various contests, discussion boards and polls.

In addition, each WCC-sponsored team will be designated a day to wear the official REPRESENT T-shirts during warm-up before competition. Teams are also encouraged to wear their REPRESENT T-shirts during REPRESENTevents and community service events that occur during REPRESENT week or during a WCC Championship.

Be sure to get to a REPRESENT event on your campus today!
