SAN JOSE, Calif. -
The 2018 West Coast Conference #WCCREPRESENT Award Winners, which recognizes efforts on campus to best support the #WCCREPRESENT initiative to enhance the student-athlete experience, have been announced as being presented to Emily Laskin of San Francisco and Kevin Maeda of Pepperdine.

The award was presented this week in conjunction with the Executive Council and Presidents' Council meetings at the Dolce Hayes Mansion in San Jose, Calif.

EMILY LASKIN, UNIVERSITY OF SAN FRANCISCO, WOMEN'S GOLF
Laskin is recognized after her strong commitment to fostering cohesiveness on the San Francisco campus amongst student-athletes. Described as a caring and dynamic person who attends all sporting event to cheer on her fellow student-athletes in a positive manner, Laskin also put together her own #WCCREPRESENT video for the University of San Francisco athletics department to learn more about what it means to display positive sportsmanship and be an important member of the community. Laskin is also a member of San Francisco's SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee).

KEVIN MAEDA, PEPPERDINE UNIVERSITY, MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Maeda is recognized as striving to build a strong community amongst the Pepperdine student-athletes and the larger community. He led efforts to plan a joint community service event with Loyola Marymount's SAAC and Pepperdine's SAAC to host a beach cleanup at this year's WCC Beach Volleyball Championship in Santa Monica. He has been an integral part of both Pepperdine's and the WCC's SAAC's during his undergrad.

ABOUT #WCCREPRESENT
The #WCCREPRESENT campaign is the West Coast Conference's sportsmanship campaign, which encourages the elevation of teams during competition rather than negative behavior. Since its launch in 2009, the #WCCREPRESENT campaign has transformed into a conference-wide celebration of WCC student-athletes' competitiveness, character and commitment to "representing" themselves both on and off the playing field.
