West Coast Conference Institutions Launch 2012-13 WCC T-Shirt Drive

Dec. 5, 2012

SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- The West Coast Conference launched the 2012-13 WCC T-Shirt Drive today, in which all nine WCC institutions will collect new and gently used t-shirts during the basketball season to benefit Clothes4Souls. This is the second year that the WCC will be hosting a T-Shirt Drive for Clothes4Souls, a division of the non-profit Soles4Souls, which the WCC has partnered with for the last five years.

Last year, in its first T-Shirt Drive, the nine WCC institutions collected over 26,800 shirts. Starting today through Wednesday, February 27, 2013, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) on each WCC campus will be looking to surpass that amount by placing T-Shirt Drive collection boxes, provided by the Conference office, in their basketball arenas and in various locations around campus.

This year, the Conference office has challenged each school to collect as many t-shirts as possible by awarding the three schools that collect the most, per capita, a donation to their favorite local or national charity. The donations will include $1000 for first place, $500 for second, and $300 for third.

Everyone is encouraged to help support their schools and SAAC groups through the T-Shirt Drive by donating any t-shirts in good, "wearable" condition. Clothes4Souls facilitates the donations of new and used clothing to people around the world who are in desperate need. Therefore, the non-profit organization depends on the efforts of manufacturers, retailers, designers and everyday people, such as the WCC students and fans, to make this possible.

All donations will be shipped by the Conference office from each institution to the Clothes4Souls warehouse in Las Vegas, Nev. For more information on how to donate, contact your school's SAAC liaison or the WCC office directly at 650-835-4128.
