WCC GOLF QUICK HITS

  • WCC programs have won a whopping nine tournaments this season. No. 38 BYU set a program record with four team titles in 2015-16. Santa Clara won three times, while San Francisco posted a pair of tournament triumphs.
  • All five WCC programs are ranked in the top-100 in the most current Golfstat rankings. No. 38 BYU and No. 49 Pepperdine both own spots in the top-50 nationally, followed by San Francisco (63), Gonzaga (80) and Santa Clara (93).
  • Six WCC student-athletes have recorded eight medalist honors in 2015-16: San Francisco’s Vanessa Ha and Santa Clara’s Annie Freman each won two individual titles.
  • Three WCC student-athletes rank in the top-75 nationally according to GolfStat: Gonzaga’s Bianca Pagdanganan, BYU’s Rose Huang (48) and Pepperdine’s Marissa Chow (73).
  • Pepperdine is seeking its 15th consecutive WCC Championship. The Waves have won 17 titles overall in the 19-year history of the event. San Francisco has won two championships.

ABOUT THE 2016 WCC GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP
The 2016 West Coast Conference Golf Championships will be held at the Blackhawk Country Club in Danville, California. The event runs from Monday, April 18 through Wednesday, April 20. Golfers will play 18 holes per day on the par-72 course playing at 6,003 yards.

REVIEWING THE 2015 WCC GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP
Last season,  Pepperdine won its 14th consecutive West Coast Conference championship and its 17th in 18 years. Two-time All-American Marissa Chow and teammate Somin Lee finished 1-2 respectively in the individual race to pace the Waves en route to the program’s 17th straight NCAA Regional berth.

Pepperdine trailed by two shots entering the final round but ended up with a 16-stroke victory after shooting a total of 929 (311-312-306). San Francisco posted a runner-up showing in the event. Pepperdine and Gonzaga both represented the WCC in in NCAA Regional competition.
