SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named its Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for January 4, 2016.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – JARED BROWNRIDGE, JR., G – SANTA CLARA
Junior guard Jared Brownridge, who has scored 20 or more points in seven of the last eight games, averaged 24.5 points and 47 percent from the 3-point line in Santa Clara’s two games against No. 24 Gonzaga and Portland. He had a game-high tying 26 points on 6-for-9 shooting from behind the 3-point line in a near upset of Gonzaga on New Year’s Eve. That was the highest point total by a Gonzaga opposing player this season.
Brownridge then helped snap a four-game losing streak with 23 points, including a perfect 13-for-13 effort from the free throw line, in Saturday’s 84-77 victory vs. Portland. He connected on six free throws in the final 1:05 to help secure the win.
