PROVO, Utah – BYU junior forward Nadia Gomes was named to the Missouri Athletic Club’s Hermann Trophy Watch List on Wednesday.
Gomes is one of 36 women on the watch list and one of 24 who were also NSCAA All-Americans in 2015. The forward from Sandy, Utah, was the West Coast Conference Player of the Year and was named to the NSCAA All-America Third Team after leading the WCC in points (22), goals (9) and game-winning goals (5).
Gomes is the seventh BYU player to make the watch list and the second consecutive after Ashley Hatch was nominated last season. Other MAC Hermann Trophy nominees from BYU were Lindsi Lisonbee Cutshall, Aleisha Rose, Jessica Harmon Carter, Katie Larkin and Andrea Willis. Cutshall in 2012 was BYU's first semifinalist.
The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious individual award in NCAA soccer presented annually to one male and one female athlete.
In November, the list will be narrowed to 15 semifinalists before three finalists will be chosen, with the winner being announced in January. This year fans will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite semifinalist in November.
