BYU’s Vasconcelos Named WCC Player of the Week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Brigham Young senior forward Michele Vasconcelos has been named the West Coast Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

Vasconcelos played a key part in two shutout wins for No. 7 BYU on the week, including a victory in the Deseret First Duel against rival Utah.

In last Monday’s victory against the Utes, Vasconcelos assisted on the game-winning goal of the 2-0 win to lead BYU to its first victory in Salt Lake City since 2010. In a 4-0 win on Thursday against SMU, she scored twice to put the game out of reach.

On the season, Vasconcelos is second on the team with four goals and nine points. She has 21 goals on her career and moved into a tie for sixth in program history with four career multiple-goal games.
