SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named its Rawlings Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week for April 25, 2016.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE RAWLINGS PLAYER OF THE WEEK – CASSIDY BROWN, JR., C – LOYOLA MARYMOUNT
Junior catcher Cassidy Brown batted .412 (7x17) with three runs scored, four doubles, five RBI and two walks to help guide Loyola Marymount to a 3-1 week. The native of Hudson, Ohio slugged .647 and reached at a .500 clip. His week began with a 4-for-5 night that included two doubles, two runs scored and two RBI at CSU Bakersfield. He then posted a 2-for-4 night with a double and an RBI at Pacific to open a three-game series. The multi-hit game was his team-best 19th of the year. Brown finished the week with his fourth double on Sunday, adding a run scored and another RBI.

Also Nominated: Gio Brusa, Pacific; Tyler Frost, Gonzaga; Manny Jefferson, Pepperdine; Allen Smoot, San Francisco

WEST COAST CONFERENCE RAWLINGS PITCHER OF THE WEEK – A.J. PUCKETT, JR., RHP – PEPPERDINE
Junior righthander A.J. Puckett continued his tear through the last seven weeks of the season, tossing a complete-game shutout against Portland to run his streak to 54.2 consecutive innings without giving up an earned run and 43.0 consecutive innings without a run of any kind. The Pepperdine ace was masterful in his Friday start this week, leading the Waves to a 4-0 win with his first complete game of the year.

Puckett struck out a career-high 12 batters and did not allow a walk on day, letting only one runner past first base all game. The junior righty faced only one runner above the minimum, scattering seven hits in the game. He picked off two runners at first and then induced three double plays and got a play at the plate to keep the Pilots off the board. He threw 103 pitches in the game, 65 of them for strikes.

Puckett now has a league-leading 1.01 ERA on the year and is 7-2. He has not given up an earned run since March 4, allowing just two unearned runs during that time. His 43.0 scoreless innings date back to March 18, spanning his last five starts.
