SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named its Volleyball Player of the Week for September 28, 2015.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – JORDAN GASSER, SR., OH - GONZAGA
Senior outside hitter Jordan Gasser powered the Zags to a 2-0 WCC record, GU’s first since 1991, with a team-leading .545 hit percentage and 28 kills, second-most on the weekend. During the Zags’ win over No. 23 Pacific Thursday, Gasser posted 12 kills and four blocks – including two of each in the GU’s final six points during set three, which the Zags claimed 25-23 – to help Gonzaga post its first ranked win of the season.
Versus Saint Mary’s, the Mission Viejo, Calif., native hit .714 on 16 kills and one error in 21 attempts – the best by a Bulldog since at least 2004 (min. 20 attempts) and the second-highest hitting percentage of the WCC this year – to help the Zags sweep Saint Mary’s for the first time since 1998. Thanks in large part to Gasser’s efficiency, the Zags as a team posted their highest hitting percentage since ’04 as well (.489).
Also Nominated: Lexi Elman, Pacific; Lisa Kramer, San Diego; Kirsten Mead, Santa Clara; Becca Strehlow, Pepperdine
