WCC Players of the Week Announced

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Portland senior center Rachel Warren and San Diego junior guard Brandon Johnson were named the WCC Players of the Week after guiding their teams to big wins.

Portland senior center Rachel Warren was named the West Coast Conference women's basketball player of the week after notching two straight double-doubles as the Pilots picked up a pair of road wins. Warren averaged 13 points and 12.5 rebounds in wins over Pacific and Sacramento State. On Sunday, Warren scored 16 points and secured a season-high 13 rebounds during a 74-61 win over Sacramento State in Sacramento, Calif. She also handed out three assists and blocked two shots against the Hornets. During an 84-64 win against Pacific in Stockton, Calif., on Friday, the native of Brisbane, Australia, scored 10 points with 12 rebounds. Warren also hit all eight free throws during the weekend and now has three double-doubles on the season.

San Diego junior guard Brandon Johnson led the Toreros to a stunning 81-72 win at Kentucky. Johnson scored a career-high 27 points to go along with eight rebounds, three assists and three steals. Johnson connected on 7-of-15 from the field, including 3-for-5 from beyond the arc. With the Toreros holding a slim 35-33 halftime lead, Johnson scored 19 of his game-high 27 points after intermission to lead USD to the win.
