WCC Announces Players of the Month

During the month of December, senior Diamon Simpson averaged 13.7 points, shooting 47.2 percent from the field, and 14.3 rebounds per game while helping Saint Mary's post an impressive 7-0 record. Simpson had five double-doubles in the month, which included two 20-point games and four games with at least 15 rebounds. He is now over the 900-rebound mark for his career and holds the school record. In addition to his scoring and rebounds, Simpson averaged 2.9 blocks and 2.0 steals per game. He was twice named the WCC Player of the Week during the month of December and was also named the Shamrock Office Solutions Tournament MVP.

Junior Heather Bowman averaged 19.9 points and 9.4 rebounds in the Zags' December contests.

This past December, junior Heather Bowman averaged 19.9 points and 9.4 rebounds, as she helped Gonzaga to a 4-3 record against tough competition, including #7/11 University of Tennessee. Shooting 45.5 percent from the field and 84.1 percent from the charity stripe, she finished the month with three double-doubles and led the team in scoring in all but one contest. Bowman has been named WCC Player of the Week three times this season and currently leads the league in scoring at 20.1 points per game.
