WCC Announces Players of the Week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- With the 2010-11 men's and women's basketball season in action, the West Coast Conference is pleased to announce its WCC Players of the Week selections.

Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Robert Sacre, Gonzaga, Junior, Center
For the week, Robert Sacre averaged 21.0 ppg, five rpg, had three assists, eight blocks, two steals and zero turnovers. Sacre scored a career-high 24 points against Pepperdine, came back with 18 points against LMU. Sacre shot 73.9 percent from the field, going 17-for-23 including a perfect 8-for-8 against the Waves. He also went 8-for-9 from the line, including 8-for-8 against Pepperdine. Sacre now has 104 career blocks to become the fourth player in school history with 100 career blocks.

Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Courtney Vandersloot, Gonzaga, Senior, Guard
Courtney Vandersloot helped Gonzaga to two WCC road victories this week. The point guard averaged 20.0 points, 8.0 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals, while shooting 48.3 percent (14-of-29) from the field and 76.9 percent (10-of-13) from the charity stripe. Vandersloot began the week scoring 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the floor, and added seven assists, two steals and two rebounds in the Bulldogs' 16-point victory at Pepperdine. Vandersloot then nearly had a triple-double in the Zags six-point victory at Loyola Marymount, which was the Lions first loss in league play. She scored a game-high 22 points, handed out nine assists and grabbed eight rebounds, along with two steals.
