SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- With the 2010-11 men's and women's basketball season in action, the West Coast Conference is pleased to announce its WCC Players of the Week selections.
Co-Men's Basketball Players of the Week
Mickey McConnell, Saint Mary's, Guard, SR
Mickey McConnell was just one point shy of his career-high with 27 points in Saint Mary's 73-71 win at Gonzaga - the program's first since 1995. He followed that performance with a career-high 32 points at Portlandtwo nights later. McConnell averaged 29.5 points, 4.0 assists and 3.5 rebounds in the two games and shot .571 from the three-point line in the two games (8-14) and .553 from the field (21-38). His five three-pointers at Portland was one shy of career-high. McConnell also hit the game-winning shot from about 12 feet out with just 1.2 seconds on the clock over outstretched 7'0 defender Robert Sacre to win the game at Gonzaga. He surpassed the 1,000-point mark for his career with 1,027.
Tim Douglas, Portland, Point Guard, FR
Tim Douglas moved into the starting lineup for the first time this season and helped the Pilots post convincing wins over San Diego (79-64) and No. 24 Saint Mary's (85-70). The Cerritos, Calif. native finished with 14 points and a season-high six assists on Thursday against the Toreros. He then erupted for 26 points, five rebounds and four assists to lead the upset of the Gaels. Against Saint Mary's he drilled all four three-point attempts and was 10-for-16 from the field. For the week, Douglas shot 58 percent from the field, made 6-of-8 three-pointers and all six of his free throw attempts.

Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Katelan Redmon, Gonzaga, Guard, JR
Katelan Redmon helped the Bulldogs close out the first half of WCC play a perfect 7-0 with two victories this past week. Redmon averaged 22.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 steal and 1.5 assists per game, while shooting 55.9 percent from the floor and a perfect 1.000 percent at the charity stripe. The Spokane native began the week scoring a game-high 24 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the field and hitting all four free throw attempts in GU's 106-77 victory at Saint Mary's College. Redmon also grabbed seven rebounds, six of which were offensive, and four of the offensive boards turned into eight points for Redmon. In the Bulldogs 70-49 win at the University of San Diego, Redmon again had the game-high in points, finishing the contest with 20 on 9-of-16 shooting and 2-of-2 accuracy at the charity stripe. She grabbed six rebounds this time, three of which were offensive, and had three steals and one assist. Redmon has now scored 20-plus points in 3-straight contests and has registered double-figure points in all but one game this season.
