SAN BRUNO, Calif. - The West Coast Conference and Zappos.com, the title sponsor of the 2011 Zappos.com WCC Basketball Championships, are partnering together for the third year to host WCC Kidz Day, powered by Zappos.com. The event will take place on Monday, March 7th at 9:00 AM outside of the Orleans Arena, 4500 W. Tropicana Avenue.
Over the last two years, the WCC and Zappos.com have outfitted 1,500 kids from the After-School All-Stars Las Vegas at Kidz Day with a new pair of shoes and an event T-shirt as part of transforming the Zappos.com WCC Women's Basketball Championship into a way to better connect with the Las Vegas community.
Since its inception, the goal has been to create a fun, unique experience for every child that attends Kidz Day. And, for the third year in a row, over 150 WCC and Zappos volunteers will be present at Kidz Day to make that happen, helping with the shoe distribution and activities for the kids before they enter the Orleans Arena to watch the West Coast Conference Women's Basketball Championship Game.
"Every year has been an opportunity for us to make this experience a bigger and better one for the After-School All-Stars," said WCC Commissioner Jamie Zaninovich. "Our WCC staff and Zappos.com have really teamed up to make this event a true celebration of our commitment to working together and giving back to the Las Vegas community."
This time around, WCC and Zappos.com invited 1,000 After-School All-Stars to be a part of Kidz Day, and thanks to new partner KangaROOS, each After-School All-Star will receive a new pair of KangaROOS shoes.
"WCC Kidz Day has been amazing," said Aaron Magness, Zappos.com Senior Director of Brand Marketing & Business Development. "This year's inclusion of KangaROOS is going to help take it to the next level. The constant growth and impact we're able to support has been one of the most rewarding events for us. It's fun to see the happiness that a single pair of shoes can provide a child."
In addition, thanks to the official Kidz Day sponsors Gameday Souvenirs, MetroElectro and PretzelCrisps, every After-School All-Star will also receive a special event T-shirt, water and snacks.
"The WCC and Zappos.com's ongoing commitment to serve the Las Vegas community is remarkable," said Jackie Locks, After-School All-Stars Las Vegas Executive Director. "They have inspired hundreds of our valley's youngest residents with their kindness and generosity. We are pleased to associate with them and wish them continued success."
