WCC Announces Players of the Week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- With the 2010-11 men's and women's basketball season in action, the West Coast Conference is pleased to announce its WCC Players of the Week selections.

Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Mickey McConnell, Saint Mary's, Senior, Guard
Senior Mickey McConnell moved into 20th on the career scoring list at Saint Mary's with 1,113 points after leading the Gaels in scoring in both games over the weekend. Saint Mary's won both games on the road, 65-59 at Santa Clara and 86-68 at San Francisco. McConnell moved into fourth on the career three-point field goals list with 178. His .898 free throw percentage on the season is currently the fifth best single season in school history. McConnell's .479 three-point percentage this season is the fourth best, while his 162 assists is sixth on the single season list.

Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Louella Tomlinson, Saint Mary's, SR, Forward
Louella Tomlinson led the Gaels to two WCC victories last week with back-to-back double-doubles, helping SMC remain in second-place in the conference standings. Against Santa Clara, Tomlinson played all 40 minutes and scored 16 points with 15 rebounds, six assists and six blocks in the 75-70 win. Tomlinson helped to rally SMC after trailing at halftime to USF as the Gaels won 73-57. The senior post had 19 points, 18 rebounds and six blocks.

For the week, Tomlinson averaged 17.5 points per game, 16.5 rebounds per game, 6.0 blocks per game and 4.5 assists per game. She shot 64.7 percent from the field and played in 73 of a possible 80 minutes in the two games.
