SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- The West Coast Conference and Zappos.com, title sponsor of the Zappos.com WCC Men's and Women's Basketball Championships in Las Vegas are partnering together for the fourth consecutive year to host 1,100 children from After-School All-Stars Las Vegas at WCC Kidz Day, Powered by Zappos.com. The event is on Friday, March 2 at 9:00 AM outside the Orleans Arena, 4500 W. Tropicana Avenue.
WCC Kidz Day, Powered by Zappos.com has become a signature event for the WCC and Zappos.com. Together, both organizations bring approximately 300 volunteers each year to help outfit more than 1,000 After-School All-Stars with a new pair of shoes and an event T-shirt. Since its inception, this event has served more than 3,600 children in the Las Vegas community.
"WCC Kidz Day, Powered by Zappos.com is one of my favorite events that we host during the week of our basketball championships," said WCC Commissioner Jamie Zaninovich. "To serve After-School All-Stars and include them in our week-long celebration of the West Coast Conference is a great way for us and our partner Zappos.com to connect with the Las Vegas community in a very meaningful way."
After-School All-Stars will receive a new pair of shoes at Kidz Day, compliments of 2012 event partner, Converse, and will also have the opportunity to meet and greet WCC student-athletes, cheer groups and mascots before attending the first quarterfinal game of the Zappos.com WCC Women's Basketball Championships.
"The WCC Championships and Kidz Day is an event our entire company looks forward to," said Joel Grande, Manager of Events and Sponsorship at Zappos.com. "It's a great way for us to show our support of the community, and everyone loves interacting with the kids. It's a really cool day and all around great week."
"This highly anticipated event has become an annual tradition for us," said Jackie Locks, executive director of After-School All-Stars Las Vegas. "The children love it - and it's wonderful to see them so happy and excited to participate. We're grateful for the continued generosity of the WCC, Zappos.com and other affiliated organizations that support this worthwhile event."
