BASEBALL - PITCHER

Brian Matusz, USD
JR - LHP
San Diego's Brian Matusz was dominant on the mound during the month of March, posting a perfect 4-0 record and striking out a conference-best 46 batters in just 33 innings pitched. The junior left-hander posted a miniscule 0.27 ERA, and held opponents to a .162 batting average on the month. The Cave Creek, AZ native tied the USD program record with 16 strikeouts in an eight-inning effort against Harvard on March 22, and surrendered just one earned run in four starts during the month.
BASEBALL - CO-PLAYER

Marcus McKimmy, GON
SR - OF
Marcus McKimmy led Gonzaga to a 13-7 record during March, batting a conference-best .418 (33-for-79) and pacing the WCC with 33 hits. McKimmy scored 25 runs during the month to lead the conference, while clubbing six doubles, three home runs, and collecting 25 RBI. The senior notched multiple hits in nine contests, including seven games with three hits, and strung together an eight-game hitting streak to close out the month.
BASEBALL - CO-PLAYER

Eric Thames, PEP
SR - DH
Eric Thames posted impressive power numbers, leading Pepperdine to a 13-7 mark during March. The senior batted a team-high .403 (27-for-67), while leading the WCC with six home runs, six triples, and 63 total bases on the month. Thames also ranked second in the conference with 23 runs scored, and second in the league with 26 RBI, while posting a WCC-best on-base percentage of .549. Thames also slugged a league-best .940, and collected a WCC-high 19 walks in March.
MEN'S GOLF - CO-PLAYER

Mike McRae, SMC
Senior
During the month of March, Mike McRae posted three top-10 finishes, including two second-place performances. McRae recorded a 72.1 stroke average and closed out the month as the 88th ranked player in the country. His second place finish at the 62nd Annual Western Intercollegiate led the Gales to their first team title of the season, including wins over No. 23 Texas Tech and No. 25 Michigan State. McRae shot a four-under 66 in the opening round of the Western Intercollegiate, his month low round. McRae's other second-place finish came at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate, just one stroke off the leader.
MEN'S GOLF - CO-PLAYER

Blake Trimble, USD
Junior
Blake Trimble led the Toreros to three top-five tournament finishes during the month of March with a stroke average of 71.2. Trimble finished at even par to tie for sixth at the USD Callaway Golf Invitational where the Toreros placed second out of 16 teams. Trimble turned in a seven-under 209 at the Ron Moore Invitational to tie for fifth place. The transfer from UNLV also led San Diego to a third-place finish at the Barona Collegiate Cup, where the Toreros placed higher than a top-10 team for the first time in program history, as they defeated No. 10 Oklahoma State.
WOMEN'S GOLF - PLAYER

Taylore Karle recorded a three-under 213 to finish tied for seventh at the UCF Challenge, the Wave's only tournament in March. Her first two rounds were below par, 70 and 71, and she closed out the tournament with an even par 72. The tournament featured 14 teams ranked in the nation's top-25, including eight in the top 10. Karle is currently ranked 10th nationally by Golfweek.
MEN'S TENNIS - SINGLES

Andre Begemann, PEP
Senior
Andre Begemann posted a 9-1 record during the month of March, with all but one match coming at No. 1 on the singles ladder. Four of his wins came against ranked opponents, including two top-10 opponents from Baylor and Illinois. Begemann currently ranks 10th nationally by the ITA.
MEN'S TENNIS - DOUBLES

Andre Begemann and Omar Altmann, PEP
The duo began the month of March by winning the championship match at the 119th Annual Pacific Coast Doubles Championships and then went on to post an 8-2 record during dual matches. At the Pacific Coast Doubles, they defeated the top-seeded team from USC in the semifinals. Their most notable dual-match win came over an 18th-ranked team from Illinois. Begemann and Altmann are currently ranked No. 23 in the ITA rankings.
WOMEN'S TENNIS - SINGLES

Pavla Mesterova, LMU
Senior
Pavla Mesterova went 5-2 in No. 1 singles play during the month of March with two wins coming over nationally ranked opponents. Mesterova defeated No. 81 Sophie Kobuch from the University of Hawaii and 117th ranked Jessica Hoath from Saint Mary's College. Her only two losses also came against nationally ranked opponents.
WOMEN'S TENNIS - DOUBLES

Jill Braverman and Anamika Bhargava, PEP
Jill Braverman and Anamika Bhargava went a perfect 8-0 at No. 2 doubles during the month of March. The duo's most notable win was over Stanford's 37th ranked team. Braverman and Bhargava improved to 10-1 overall in dual matches with their perfect month.
