SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- West Coast Conference newcomer Brigham Young University maintains its lead in the race for the 2011-12 West Coast Conference Commissioner's Cup - awarded annually to the WCC institution garnering the most success during conference play. The Cougars earned ten combined men's and women's tennis points to hold a 6.5 point edge over the University of San Diego, which has moved into second place following the completion of the tennis regular season. For the first time, Commissioner's Cup points for tennis were accumulated in regular season play - not the championship - following that sport's move to a round robin format in 2011-12.

Saint Mary's College sits atop the men's all-sports trophy race with 33.0 points. BYU is now second on the men's side with 29.0 points. Loyola Marymount University, the University of San Francisco and Santa Clara University are all tied for third with 25.0 points apiece.

After winning the regular season tennis title, Pepperdine University holds the top spot in the race for the Women's All-Sports Trophy. After championships in golf and tennis, the Waves now have 42.5 women's points. BYU is in second place with 37.0 women's points, while the University of San Diego has 35.0 points.

Overall, BYU has 66.0 Commissioner's Cup points after the conclusion of tennis. The Cougars lead San Diego, which has 59.5 points. Pepperdine has climbed into third place with 58.5 points, followed closely by Saint Mary's with 57.0 points. San Francisco is fifth with 55.5 points, followed by Santa Clara with 53.0 points and Gonzaga University with 47.5 points. Loyola Marymount (45.0) and the University of Portland (38.0) round out the standings.

The next update in the race for the Commissioner's Cup will come following the 2012 West Coast Conference Rowing Championships, held May 12 at the CSUS Aquatic Center in Gold River, Calif.
