SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- West Coast Conference Commissioner Jamie Zaninovich has announced the hiring of Lynn Holzman as the conference's Senior Associate Commissioner for Governance and Administration. Holzman joins the WCC after spending the last 16 years at the national office of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
"We are thrilled to add someone of Lynn Holzman's national influence to our team at the West Coast Conference," Zaninovich said. "Lynn brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience with the governance process on a national level, and I know our membership and conference staff will benefit from her insights and leadership."
For the past 16 years, Holzman has worked at the NCAA, most recently as the Director of Academic and Membership Affairs (AMA). In that role, Holzman managed the AMA legislation team and its support of NCAA legislation processes - including drafting of legislative proposals and development of associated publications and legislative educational materials. Holzman has been involved in supporting numerous Division I governance issues and currently staffs the Division I Rules Working Group, a group established by NCAA President Mark Emmert to address one of the most important NCAA reform initiatives. She was also a member of the senior management team that oversees AMA's resource allocation, budget and strategic planning, and business performance management. In addition, Holzman served as the NCAA liaison to a number of councils, cabinets, and committees within the governance structure - including the Division I Legislative Council, Division I Women's Basketball Issues Committee and Committee on Women's Athletics. She also served as the point of contact for the Collegiate Conference Commissioners Compliance Administrators and coaches groups such as the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
"I am excited to join the West Coast Conference," Holzman said. "It is an honor to have the opportunity to work with these strong Division I institutions that embrace academic excellence and the student-athlete experience while offering strong and competitive athletics programs. I look forward to working with Jamie and everyone in the West Coast Conference family as we work together to advance the mission of the conference."
During her career, Holzman has been on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Collegiate Athletic Administrators, National Association of Athletics Compliance and the WBCA. Holzman began her tenure at the national office as an NCAA intern in membership services (now AMA), before rising to serve as Assistant Director, then Associate Director of Membership Services, and since 2001, Director of Academic and Membership Affairs. A former captain of the women's basketball team while earning her Bachelors at Kansas State University, Holzman has since earned a Masters degree from the University of North Carolina and a Masters of Business Administration from Purdue University.
Holzman will officially join the West Coast Conference staff on September 13.
