SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- Portland senior forward Rachael Rapinoe and San Diego junior goalkeeper Brittany Cameron share this week's WCC Player of the Week award after guiding their respective teams to undefeated records.
Rapinoe scored the game-winning goal in overtime in Portland's 2-1 win over No. 6 Florida State on Saturday. Led by Rapinoe's seven shots, the Pilots out-shot the Seminoles, 17-8. Rapinoe, who scored five goals in four playoff games last season, started 2007 off with a bang. Hours after being named the WCC Co-Player of the Week, Rapinoe notched two more goals in a 4-1 win over Oregon State.
Cameron was equally as impressive, helping the Toreros post a 1-0-1 record against a pair of top 25 teams. Cameron collected six saves in San Diego's 2-1 win over No. 19 Wake Forest. She followed that up with three saves in her first shutout of the season in the Toreros' 0-0 draw versus No. 22 Duke.
Rapinoe and the Pilots will travel to Seattle, Wash. next weekend for the Nike Husky Invitational. Portland will face Cal State Fullerton on Friday at 4:30 p.m. and Purdue on Sunday at 11 a.m.
