Portland's Ryan Kawulok scores game-winning goal at #22 New Mexico for WCC Player of the Week Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- With all fall round robin sports in action, the West Coast Conference is pleased to announce its WCC Players of the Week selections.

Men's Soccer Player of the Week
Ryan Kawulok, Portland, JR., D
Kawulok was named the New Mexico Invitational's Defensive MVP, while also landing on the all-tournament team. He tallied the game-winner in the 89th minute (his first goal of the season) to give Portland a dramatic 2-1 win against No. 22 New Mexico in Albuquerque. He had two shots in that game with both being on goal.

He also had two shots in the first game of the tournament, a 3-3 stalemate against Denver.

Women's Soccer Player of the Week
Micaela Capelle, Portland, FR, F
Capelle made the most of her first two career starts as Portland improved to 8-0-0 on the season with wins over No. 24 Rutgers (2-1) and Penn State (4-2) last weekend. She scored the first goal on Friday versus Rutgers and also assisted on the game-winner in the 85th minute.

She then knocked in the game-winner in the 55th minute against Penn State on Sunday after dispossessing a defender and beating the goalkeeper one-v-one. Capelle leads Portland with six goals and 13 points through eight games.

Volleyball Player of the Week
Dana Knudsen, Santa Clara, SO, MB
Knudsen hit a combined .527 last weekend as the Broncos went 2-1 at their Santa Clara Invitational. She hit an impressive .600 (11-2-15) in the tournament opener against Portland State, but really shined in the final match against Cal State Bakersfield where she hit .688 with 11 kills on 16 swings with no errors.

For the weekend, she had 35 kills and just six hitting errors to go along with 10 blocks.
