WCC Announces Players Of The Week

Four student-athletes were honored on Monday as the league office announced the WCC Player of the Week award winners. Santa Clara's Anna Cmaylo was named the volleyball award winner, while LMU's Patrick Sampson took home his second men's soccer Player of the Week honor of the season. Portland's Danielle Foxhoven and San Diego's Brittany Cameron shared the women's soccer Player of the Week award.

Senior - Middle Blocker

Weekly Stats: 3.22 kpg, .396 hitting percentage, 1.67 bpg

Cmaylo led the Broncos to sweeps over Sacramento State and at then-No. 22 Long Beach State. Cmaylo was particularly dominant in the Broncos' win over Long Beach State, tallying a match-high 12 kills on a blistering .647 hitting percentage. The senior middle blocker controlled the nets, registering 10 total blocks (1 solo, 9 assists) to help limit Long Beach State to a .038 hitting percentage for the match. On the week, Cmaylo averaged 3.22 kpg, 1.67 bpg, while hitting a solid .396.

Junior - Goalkeeper

Weekly Stats: 10 saves, 1 shutout at No. 11 Illinois-Chicago

Sampson kept the Lions within striking distance of two ranked squads over the weekend as he came within seven minutes of pitching two shutouts against No. 9 Northwestern and No. 11 Illinois-Chicago. Sampson kept No. 11 UIC off the board for the entire 110 minutes in a 0-0 tie. LMU needed each of Sampson's career-high seven saves as UIC held a 15-5 shot advantage and LMU played a man down for the final 65 minutes. The shutout was Sampson's second of the season and he lowered his goals-against-average to 0.45. He leads or is tied for the lead in the WCC in GAA, shutouts, and saves per game (5.00). He is second in total saves with 20.

Freshman - Forward

Weekly Stats: 2 goals, 1 game-winning goal

Foxhoven provided the Pilots with all of the offense that they would need in their 2-0 win over No. 16 Florida. Foxhoven scored both goals in the Pilots' shutout of the Gaters. Foxhoven, who now has two game-winning goals, has four multi-goal performance in the last five games. She now leads the WCC and is tied for third in the nation with 10 goals. Behind Foxhoven's performance, the Pilots improved to 2-1 versus ranked opponents this season.

Senior - Goalkeeper

Weekly Stats: 2 shutouts, 11 saves

Cameron, a 5-8 senior from Dublin, Calif., recorded back-to-back shutouts this past weekend against New Mexico and No. 19 Miami in helping USD extend their season-high unbeaten streak to seven matches. Cameron recorded 11 saves, with a season-high seven coming against Miami on Sunday. Cameron has not allowed a goal in her last 333 minutes of action. On the season, Cameron is 1-2-2 with a 0.63 goals-against-average.
