SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- West Coast Conference Commissioner Jamie Zaninovich has announced the addition of Chris Carlson and Ryan McCrary to the Conference staff. Carlson will serve as the Conference's Associate Commissioner for Men's Basketball and Sport Administration, and McCrary as the Conference's Senior Director of Communications.

"We are thrilled to add these two highly talented and thoughtful people to our team at the West Coast Conference," Zaninovich said. "Chris's deep basketball background will offer a valuable, strategic perspective to our senior staff, and Ryan brings an intimate knowledge of our teams and institutions to this very important role for our conference."

As the Associate Commissioner for Men's Basketball and Sport Administration, Chris Carlson will take a strategic approach to enhancing the conference's most visible sport. In addition to administering the men's basketball head coaches group and officiating program, Carlson will also manage the Conference's instant replay system implementation, and serve as a liaison to other West Coast Conference sports, including scheduling and officiating program oversight.

Carlson joins the West Coast Conference staff from UC San Diego, where he spent the previous six seasons as the head men's basketball coach. Prior to leading the Tritons program, Carlson served as a Director of Basketball Operations at both Pittsburgh and UCLA.

"I want to thank Commissioner Zaninovich for the incredible opportunity to join him and the WCC staff," Carlson said. "The West Coast Conference is one of the most respected in the country and I have always been a great admirer of what the WCC and its member institutions represent. I am looking forward to assisting the Commissioner and the Conference in its growth and the quality service it continually provides its student-athletes and fans."

Ryan McCrary is the West Coast Conference's Senior Director of Communications, where he will manage the media relations program and gain exposure for the Conference's 14 sports. In addition, McCrary will oversee press row operations at the WCC's highly-publicized basketball championships in Las Vegas, and work on publicity efforts and strategic planning for the Conference's new network, TheW.tv.

Although new to the West Coast Conference office, McCrary is no stranger to the WCC. A Gonzaga University graduate, McCrary has worked on the media relations staffs at Gonzaga, San Diego, San Francisco, and Pepperdine.

"I am looking forward to joining a great team at the West Coast Conference at a truly exciting time," McCrary said. "This is an outstanding opportunity and I am thankful to Jamie and Jeff [Tourial] for the chance to represent the WCC and its member institutions to the best of my ability. I can't wait to get started."

Carlson's first day at the West Coast Conference will be Friday, October 4. McCrary will officially join the WCC staff beginning on Thursday, October 24 at the annual West Coast Conference Basketball Tip-Off event.
