SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Portland freshman forward Michelle Enyeart was named the West Coast Conference women's soccer player of the week on Monday after leading the Pilots to wins over Washington and Oregon this weekend. Enyeart scored two goals and added an assist in a 5-0 rout of Washington on Friday and followed with another strike against Oregon in Sunday's 3-0 shutout victory.
With Portland missing leading scorer Megan Rapinoe and star defender Stephanie Lopez for the weekend due to national team commitments, Enyeart stepped up and provided the scoring flair. Since breaking into the starting lineup five games ago, Enyeart has logged five goals and four assists. She is now tied with Rapinoe for the team points lead with 22 (9g, 4a). She ranks 18th nationally in points per game (1.83) and 19th in goals per game (0.75).
Enyeart and the Pilots will return to the pitch on Thursday for their final nonconference match of the season, a 7 p.m. contest against Washington State at the Clive Charles Soccer Complex.
