SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- With all fall round robin sports in action, the West Coast Conference is pleased to announce its WCC Players of the Week selections.
Men's Soccer Player of the Week
David Ponce, SO, F, Loyola Marymount
Sophomore forward David Ponce was involved in four of LMU's six goals on the weekend, supplying a goal and three assists as the Lions improved to 4-0-0 in conference play for the first time in school history. On Friday against Gonzaga, Ponce played provider on two of LMU's three goals in a 3-1 victory. His cross helped the Lions open the scoring in the 13th minute and, after the Bulldogs had equalized, he delivered a perfect cross for what would prove to be the game-winning goal in the 71st minute. He followed that performance up two days later with a goal and an assist as LMU downed Portland 3-2 in a matchup of the WCC's top two teams. Ponce himself gave LMU the lead in that game, scoring his third goal of the season to put the Lions ahead in the 11th minute. Six minutes later, he flicked on a cross for LMU's second goal to provide the Lions with a much-needed cushion. Ponce's performances on the weekend have already earned him a place on the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week. In 2010, Ponce has three goals and five assists for 11 points.

Women's Soccer Player of the Week
Anessa Patton, SR, F, Santa Clara
Senior forward Anessa Patton scored her fourth goal of the season and second game-winner of the year to help the Broncos defeat San Diego, 1-0, in the WCC season opener for both teams. The goal also snapped a 3-0 series win streak held by the Toreros since 2007 and improved SCU's all-time record over USD to 13-6-0.

Volleyball Player of the Week
Ali Troost, San Diego, SR, RS
Senior right side Ali Troost helped lead USD to a pair of wins over Utah and No. 25 Saint Mary's this past week. With the win over SMC, USD remained unblemished in WCC action at 3-0. Troost paced the Toreros offense as she recorded 43 kills (6.14 kps), hit for a .474 clip and racked up 21 digs, while also recording three total blocks. In Saturday's win over SMC, Troost recorded a match-high 15 kills to go along with 12 digs to post a double-double and she hit for a .414 clip. In Thursday's win over Utah, Troost recorded a season-high 28 kills, while only committing three errors to post a .511 attack percentage, while also recording eight digs.
