Oct. 18, 2010

SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- With all fall round robin sports in action, the West Coast Conference is pleased to announce its WCC Players of the Week selections.

Men's Soccer Player of the Week
David Ponce, SO, F, Loyola Marymount
Sophomore David Ponce continued to provide offense for the Lions as he scored twice, including the game-winner in overtime, to help LMU stay perfect in WCC play with Wednesday's 2-1 win over San Diego. Ponce would get his opener in the 34th minute, heading in a cross from junior Alex Greenman at the far post. After USD equalized and the game went into overtime, he smashed home the game-winner 2:12 into the extra period by latching on to the end of a cross from junior Tyler Krumpe and turning in the box before firing high into the top right corner from close range. It was Ponce's first career two-goal game and gives him four goals on the season, three in conference play, and three game-winners.
