WCC Players Of The Week Announced

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Three WCC student-athletes were honored with WCC Player of the Week honors. Portland's Michelle Enyeart was named the WCC women's soccer Player of the Week, while Gonzaga's George Josten took home the men's award. San Francisco's Sarah Mandala earned the women's volleyball Player of the Week honor.

San Francisco opposite hitter Sarah Mandala hammered a match-high 18 kills on a .300 hitting percentage to lead the Dons to a 3-0 victory over #12 San Diego. The dynamic freshman also chipped in five digs and four blocks in the sweep of the Toreros. Mandala's 20 points on the night routed the Dons to their first victory against a top 25 team since 2003, when the Dons defeated then #21 San Diego, 3-2.

George Josten provided all of Gonzaga's scoring, netting a pair of goals in a 2-2 double overtime tie with Northwest rival Portland at Martin Field on Friday. Josten's first scoring strike came in the 28th minute, and he put away the equalizer on a rebound in the 88th minute to send the contest into overtime. The senior, who enters the week tied for second in the conference with five goals on the year, moved into a tie for third place with former Bulldog and current MLS standout Brian Ching on the Gonzaga all-time goals list with 34.

Michelle Enyeart logged both game-winners in leading Portland to wins over nationally ranked San Diego and Santa Clara this week. Enyeart weaved through five defenders after a 40 yard run to open the scoring in a 4-0 win over San Diego on Thursday, then came off the bench to deliver a late first half goal in a 2-0 win over Santa Clara. She also created Portland's second goal against SCU by drawing a penalty kick in the second half which was converted by teammate Angie Woznuk. Enyeart leads the WCC with 23 points and is among the national leaders with 11 assists.
