University of Portland Takes Sole Possession of 2010-11 WCC Commissioner's Cup Lead

SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- The University of Portland moved into sole possession of the lead for the 2010-11 West Coast Conference Commissioner's Cup, presented by Comcast Cable, on the strength of its fourth consecutive women's soccer championship.

The second-ranked Pilots finished 6-0-1 in the final conference women's conference standings, while 14th-ranked Santa Clara and San Diego tied for second at 4-3-0. All three teams will represent the West Coast Conference in the 2010 NCAA Women's Soccer College Cup beginning on Friday.

The Pilots now have 23 Commissioner's Cup points after men's and women's cross country and women's soccer, and own a 5.5 point lead over second place Santa Clara (17.5 points). San Francisco is third with 16.0 points, followed by Loyola Marymount (14.5), Gonzaga (13.0), San Diego (11.5), Pepperdine (7.5) and Saint Mary's (6.0).The next Commissioner's Cup update, presented by Comcast Cable, will come following the conclusion of the men's soccer regular season this weekend. Loyola Marymount and Santa Clara enter the final weekend of the regular season tied for first with two matches remaining.
