WCC Players Of The Week Announced

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Three WCC student-athletes were honored with WCC Player of the Week honors. Saint Mary's freshman Patty Mills was selected as the WCC men's basketball Player of the Week, while Gonzaga's Heather Bowman and San Francisco's Dominique Carter share this week's women's basketball Player of the Week honor.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

Patty Mills, SMC
FR - Guard
Saint Mary's freshman guard Patty Mills was spectacular last week for the Gaels, leading them to a 2-0 record, including a 99-87 upset win over then-No. 11 Oregon. In just his fourth collegiate game, Mills tossed in a Saint Mary's freshman record 37 points against the Ducks. Equally impressive was his floor leadership as the freshman from Canberra, Australia dished out a game-high five assists, while committing just one turnover. Mills followed that performance with an 11-point, five-assist effort in the Gaels' 84-63 win over Nicholls State. For the week, Mills averaged 24.0 ppg and 5.0 apg, while shooting 50 percent from the field.
CO-WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Heather Bowman, GON
SO - Forward
Gonzaga sophomore forward Heather Bowman turned in a strong week, leading the Zags to a 2-1 record. Bowman tossed in a game-high 25 points and pulled down a game-best 11 rebounds in the Bulldogs' 87-71 win over Montana. The Spokane, WA native then scored a game-high 17 points and grabbed a team-best eight rebounds in the Zags' win over Marquette. She finished the week with a game-high 23 points and seven rebounds at Portland State. For the week, Bowman averaged 21.7 ppg and 8.7 rpg, while shooting .519 from the floor.
CO-WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Dominique Carter, USF
SR - Forward
San Francisco senior forward Dominique Carter nearly averaged a double-double in leading the Dons to a 2-1 record last week. Carter scored a game-high 24 points on 11-for-16 shooting and collected 10 rebounds in the Dons' win over Cal State Fullerton. The Tracy, CA native turned in her second straight double-double with a superb 27-point, 10-rebound, effort in USF's 78-66 win over UMKC. Carter finished the week with 18 points and nine boards in the Dons' 73-70 overtime loss to Villanova. On the week, Carter averaged 23.0 ppg and 9.7 rpg, while shooting .590 from the field.
