Co-Men's Basketball - Patty Mills, Saint Mary's College
Patty Mills didn't look like a freshman during the month of November for the Gaels. The Canberra, Australia native led Saint Mary's to a 5-0 start during the month, including a 99-87 win over then-No. 11 Oregon. Mills, who has led Saint Mary's to its best season-opening start in nearly two decades, led the Gaels and ranked sixth in the WCC with 15.8 ppg during the month of November. In addition, he led the conference in assists (5.0 apg), steals (3.0 spg), and free throw percentage (.962). In the Gaels' big win over the Ducks, Mills scored a Saint Mary's freshman record 37 points to go along with five assists.
Co-Men's Basketball - John Bryant, Santa Clara University
Santa Clara junior center John Bryant turned in a dominating first month of the season, leading the Broncos to a 5-1 record. Bryant was unbelievable in November, averaging 22.0 ppg, the second most in the WCC, while ranking fourth in the conference in rebounding with 8.7 rpg. The San Pablo, CA native shot a blistering .705 percent from the field, connecting on 55-of-78 from the field to lead the league. He also registered 15 blocks during the month to rank second in the WCC. Bryant scored 17 points in the second half at Utah to lead the Broncos to a 72-57 win. He also turned in a dominating performance in Santa Clara's 77-65 win at Sacramento State, scoring 26 points on 12-of-15 shooting, grabbing 12 rebounds, and blocking a career-high seven shots.
Women's Basketball - Heather Bowman, Gonzaga University
Heather Bowman led Gonzaga to a 4-2 record during the month of November, averaging 20.8 points and 9.5 rebounds per game through the season's first month. The sophomore shot .533 (48-for-90) from the field, and hit 29 of her 33 attempts (.879) from the free throw line during November. Bowman also posted three double-doubles during the month, beginning with a 25-point, 11-rebound effort in a win over Nevada on November 17. She poured in 20 points with 11 boards against Montana on November 19, and finished off the month with 20 points and 11 rebounds at then-No. 14 ranked Arizona State on November 28. Bowman, who garnered WCC Player of the Week honors twice during the month, was Gonzaga's top scorer in each of the team's first six games of the season.
