SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named its Women’s Runner of the Month for October 2015
WEST COAST CONFERENCE WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE MONTH – Shelby Mills, Sr. – GON
Gonzaga senior Shelby Mills is having quite the month of October, finishing on high note as she led the Gonzaga women to a WCC title 20 years in the making. Mills was the individual champion at the 2015 WCC Championship becoming only the second Bulldog runner to ever win a WCC Cross country title. The last was Cheska Fairbanks in 1996. Mills separated herself from the 82-runner field early on and maintained that lead all the way to the finish. She ran the 6k Plantes Ferry Park course with a time of 20:55.7, beating out the second place runner by nearly eleven seconds.
Earlier this month Mills ran a 20:54.9 at the Washington Invitational. She also led the Gonzaga women to an individual and team victory at the Inland Empire Challenge in Lewiston, Idaho.
