SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named its Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for February 29, 2016. This is the final honor of the 2015-16 season.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – LAUREN NICHOLSON, SR, G – SAINT MARY’S
Lauren Nicholson came through in a big way in the regular season final weekend, leading Saint Mary’s to a pair of wins and a second-place finish for the No. 2 seed in the WCC Tournament.
Nicholson scored 19 points apiece in both wins over Santa Clara and San Francisco. In the process, Nicholson scored her 1,300th career point and finished the weekend at 1,323, surpassing Kate Gaze for 12th all-time in school history.
For the week, Nicholson averaged 19 points while totaling eight rebounds, six assists and just two turnovers in 77 minutes of action. She shot 44 percent from the field and 13-of-14 from the free throw line.
