SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Loyola Marymount freshman defender Garrett Amador has been named the West Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week , the conference office announced Monday.
Amador scored his first two career goals and notched them at the most opportune times to help lead the Lions to a 1-1 weekend with his tallies in games against Pacific and Saint Mary’s.
The defender earned his first career points with his game-tying goal against Pacific with 41 seconds remaining in regulation to send the game to overtime. Two days later, Amador was awarded with his first career start and once again found the back of the net with his game-winning goal in the sixth minute of overtime to give the Lions their first conference victory of the season.
Amador is now tied for the team-lead with two goals, and is the only defender on the team to have scored twice on the year.
