SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named its Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for November 9, 2015. This is the final conference weekly award for the 2015 women's soccer season.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – MADIE LYONS, SO., F - BYU
Sophomore forward Madie Lyons scored two goals and made an assist on Saturday in the regular season finale against Saint Mary’s. It was Lyons’ first multiple-goal game of her career and was the second and third of her season to go with five total assists.
Lyons bookended the scoring for BYU. In the 11th minute, on a pass from Michele Murphy Vasconcelos. Lyons beat the keeper to the far post for the early 1-0 lead. In the 74th minute, Lyons again found the far post to beat the keeper to make it 4-1. She assisted on Nadia Gomes’ tap-in goal in the 27th minute as she got to the end line and crossed in a ball that Gomes put away for the 2-0 lead.
Lyons has started every conference game this year, replacing Ashley Hatch. In those nine games, Lyons has scored three goals and made four assists.
