SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named its Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for September 28, 2015.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – MICHELE MURPHY VASCONCELOS, JR., M, BYU
Junior midfielder Michele Murphy Vasconcelos created both BYU goals in a 2-1 win over Long Beach State on Saturday. The opener, which gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead, came on a 2-on-2 breakaway where Vasconcelos drew both center backs and then set up Elena Medeiros for the lead in the second half.
After Long Beach equalized, Vasconcelos did it again finding Ashley Hatch in the box. Vasconcelos' pass allowed Hatch to fend off two Long Beach defenders and round the goalkeeper before putting the ball in the back of the net for the game-winner.
The assists are Vasconcelos' 15th and 16th career assists and is her fourth career mutli-assist game, which is tied for third in program history.
Also Nominated: Grace Cutler, Santa Clara; Maddie Dieker, Portland
