MALIBU, Calif. – Pepperdine alum Grace Na, a four-time All-American with the women’s golf team, earned an LPGA Tour card for the 2016 season after a tie for second place at the LPGA Final Stage Qualifying Tournament this weekend.
Na (Alameda, Calif./Alameda HS) will join former Pepperdine golfers Danielle Kang and Katherine (Hull) Kirk on the tour next year. Pepperdine Coach Laurie Gibbs – who is being inducted into the Women’s Golf Coaches Association Coaches’ Hall of Fame this week – has now had nine of her former players earn LPGA Tour cards.
“We are so proud of Grace for an incredible week at the final stage of LPGA Tour Qualifying and earning full status on the LPGA Tour,” Gibbs said. “She is an outstanding talent who will go on to a very successful LPGA career.”
Over five days at the LPGA International course in Daytona Beach, Fla., Na shot an 11-under 349 (70-69-69-72-69) to comfortably earn her LPGA Tour card. The top 20 finishers were given full status for 2016.
Na also came in second place at the second stage of qualifying, shooting a 3-under 285 in October.
Na, who played for the Waves from 2011-14, earned both Golfweek and WGCA All-American first team honors as a junior and senior and was honorable mention as a freshman and sophomore by Golfweek. The four-time West Coast Conference Player of the Year set school records for career scoring average (72.88) and single-season scoring average (71.73 as a senior in 2013-14). She posted six career victories.
