No. 4 BYU Wins 2015 WCC Men's Championship

COMPLETE MEN’S RESULTS | CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – No. 4 BYU placed four in the top-five and five in the top-six and rolled to the 2015 West Coast Conference Men’s Championship on a soggy morning at Plantes Ferry Sports Stadium. It is the third title in four years for the Cougars, who finished with a team score of 17 points. 

Defending champion Portland posted a team score of 66 to secure a runner-up finish. The Pilots finished in a solid pack seizing the 11th through 14th spots. 

BYU senior Aaron Fletcher won the individual title crossing the line with a time of 24:40.1 and led the podium sweep. Nicolas Montanez (24:44.4) was second and 2015 WCC Freshman of the Year Dallin Farnsworth (24:49.4) finished third for the Cougars. Connor McMillan (25:07.3) was sixth as the final Cougar to count in the team score. 

San Francisco’s Alex Short (24:58.2) broke up the Cougar stranglehold in the top-eight, placing fourth overall. Gonzaga’s Troy Fraley (25:12.5) was ninth, while Matt Leach (25:15.7) rounded out the top-10 and the All-WCC First Team for the Dons. 

Gonzaga (83 points) finished third overall, followed by San Francisco (116) and Saint Mary’s (146). 

BYU’s Ed Eyestone was selected as WCC Coach of the Year for the second time.
