Pacific, BYU Claim Women’s Tennis Weekly Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named Pacific’s Viktoriya Dzyuba the West Coast Conference Women’s Singles Player of the Week and the BYU duo Toby Miclat and Mayci Jones the Women’s Doubles Team of the Week. 

Dzyuba, a freshman from Kharkiv, Ukraine, went undefeated on the weekend with a win over USF at number one singles and doubles in the conference opener as Pacific swept San Francisco, 4-0. She improved to 5-1 on the season and 3-1 in doubles matches. In her WCC singles debut, Dzyuba defeated preseason All-WCC selection Andrea Ka, 6-1, 7-5.

Miclat and Jones of BYU earned their first Doubles Team of the Week honor after defeating No. 32 Wichita State’s Julia Schiller and Gabriella Porubin, 6-3, in the number one doubles spot. The Cougars handed their doubles rivals just their fifth loss of the season – fall and spring combined.
