SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Pacific senior outfielder Sara Anderson has been named to the 2016 All-Academic All-District Eight Division I Softball Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Friday morning. Anderson will now advance to the All-America ballot, which is voted on solely by Division I COSIDA members.
A constant force at the top of the order for the Tigers in her senior season, Anderson has started all 45 games at the leadoff position for Pacific in 2016. The Woodinville, Wash. product is hitting .348 with 48 hits in 138 at bats. She is tied for the team lead in steals with eight and has the leading on-base percentage on the team (.441).
Anderson will leave Pacific in the top 25 all-time in program history in walks, stolen bases and runs scored, in the top 10 in batting average and on base percentage and as second all time in stolen base percentage. She was named to her second straight all-WCC team after the 2015 season.
In the classroom, Anderson has been a standout with a cumulative 3.91 GPA as a Social Sciences major with a minor in Pre-Law. In addition to the Academic All-Region selection, Anderson has been named to the WCC All-Academic team in each of her seasons of eligibility. Additionally, Anderson is an National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Scholar Athlete and has been named the winner of Pacific's Catherine Harnack Academic Achievement Award in each of the last two seasons. Most Recently, Anderson was honored with Pacific's prestigious Amos Alonzo Stagg Scholar Athlete Award.
