SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named its Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for September 14, 2015.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – JOSH ADACHI, SO., GK – PACIFIC
After sitting out two games due to injury earlier in the season, sophomore goalkeeper Josh Adachi tallied a clean sheet, the second of his career, recording eight saves, the second highest total in his career, many of them crucial grabs as Pacific took home a 3-0 victory to open up the 2015 home schedule.
Tested more often than typical due to Pacific playing down a man from the 42nd minute on, The Pearl City, Hawai’i native stymied the visiting San Jose State Spartans all night in goal. Adachi ramped up his defensive efforts to protect the shutout. In the 34th minute, he was tested by a pair of Spartan attempts off a corner kick, grabbing the two chances to keep Pacific ahead 1-0. In the second half, Adachi turned away Alex Alcaraz in the 61st and also corralled spirited SJSU attempts in the 82nd and 89th minutes. Adachi grabbed the last ditch boot by Andrew Mendoza to seal his first shutout of the season and second in the history of Pacific’s latest era of men’s soccer.
