SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Pepperdine senior midfielder Rylee Baisden has been named the West Coast Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for the second time this season, the conference office announced Monday.
Baisden helped No. 19 Pepperdine keep its hold on first place in the WCC standings, scoring a goal and an assist in a 2-0 week for the Waves. The senior was previously named the WCC Player of the Week on Aug. 22.
Baisden converted a penalty kick in the first half of a 2-1 win over Santa Clara for her team-leading sixth goal of the season. She then posted her fifth assist of the year against San Francisco when she fired off a shot that was just barely stopped by the Dons' goalkeeper before falling right to Taylor Alvarado for the game-winning goal in the 76th minute.
The wins move the Waves to 6-0-1 in conference play with two games remaining. One win in the remaining two games will solidify the conference title for Pepperdine. Baisden has led the charge with a team-high 17 points on the year.
