SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Pepperdine senior goalkeeper Hannah Seabert has been named the West Coast Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Seabert helped lead the Waves to two big shutouts on the week as No. 25 Pepperdine defeated San Diego, 2-0, before grabbing sole possession of first place in the WCC standings with a 1-0 victory against No. 5 BYU.
Seabert commanded the box in both contests, catching numerous crosses before an attacker could get to them while finishing with four saves on the weekend. The senior made a spectacular save in each game, keeping San Diego from tying Thursday's contest late in the second half by batting away a wide-open, close-range shot. She then made a diving stop in what was still a scoreless game against BYU on another close-range attempt.
The shutout of the Cougars was just the second shutout of the potent BYU attack this season. Seabert has yet to allow a goal in four WCC games and has led the Waves to a total of eight shutouts on the season.
