SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named its Men’s Golfer of the Month for October.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE MEN’S GOLFER OF THE MONTH – FREDERICK WEDEL, SR. – PEPPERDINE
Senior Frederick Wedel went below par during five of his six rounds during the month of October and averaged 68.33 strokes per round. He tied for second place at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational with a 16-under 197, the second-best 54-hole score in program history. He helped the Waves to a tie for second place as a team at the prestigious tournament, which included four Pac-12 and three WCC schools, and a team total of 33-under, which set a program record.
Wedel had a 7-under 64 in the first round, the best round by a Wave this fall. Wedel then tied for 12th place at the Bill Cullum Invitational with a 3-under 213 (and helped the Waves to another second-place team finish). With the five below-par rounds, Wedel now has 32 in his Pepperdine career, which has moved him into a tie for eighth place on the Waves’ record book.
