Portland, Pepperdine Claim Debut Men’s Tennis Weekly Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named Portland’s Michail Pervolarakis the West Coast Conference Singles Player of the Week and Pepperdine duo Lautaro Pane and Pedro Iamachkine the Doubles Team of the Week. 

Pervolarakis went 2-0 at the No. 1 singles spot with a pair of sweeps over Seattle and Idaho to claim the first singles honor of the week. The sophomore earned a 6-2, 6-3 win Friday against Seattle before winning 6-2, 6-4 Saturday against Idaho in the number one singles spot. Pervolarakis has now won three consecutive singles matches, including a win over Washington’s nationally-ranked top player the previous week.

Pane and Iamachkine began the week with a 6-3 win over Loyola Marymount’s Joat Farah and Errol Smith in the No. 2 doubles spot, helping the Waves secure the doubles point en route to a 4-3 win over the Lions in the conference opener. On Sunday against No. 48 UC Santa Barbara, the duo hit the 5-4 mark with Nathan Moreno and Chase Masciorini before the doubles point was awarded and the match was suspended.
