SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named Portland freshman Radina Dimitrova the West Coast Conference Women’s Singles Player of the Week and the Pilots duo of Lucia Butkovska and Jelena Lazarevic the Women’s Doubles Team of the Week.

Dimitrova went 3-0 at No. 2 singles in leading the Pilots to three wins over the weekend. She started with a straight sets win over BYU’s Toby Miclat on Friday 7-5, 6-4 as Portland opened WCC play with a win. On Saturday, Dimitrova defeated Boise State’s Teal Vosburgh in a three-setter, 6-1, 4-6, 6-2. Portland then caught a flight and travelled to UC Irvine to conclude the weekend with a 5-1 victory. Dimitrova notched a 6-2, 6-2 win over Vivien Dvali to run her win streak to five matches.

The honor is the first in Dimitrova’s career. After five weeks in the season, all five WCC Singles Player of the Week honors this season have been won by freshman with Pepperdine’s Luisa Stefani winning three awards and Pacific’s Viktoriya Dzyuba winning one.

Portland’s No. 1 doubles team led the Pilots to a 3-0 record last weekend and won all three of its doubles matches. The duo knocked off BYU’s Toby Miclat and Mayci Jones on Friday by a 6-4 margin to clinch the doubles point for Portland. On Saturday, they defeated Boise State’s top doubles team 6-2 and then concluded the weekend with a 6-2 win at UC Irvine.
