SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named its Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for January 11, 2016.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – KALANI PURCELL, JR, F - BYU
Kalani Purcell put together one of the most all-around balanced weekends in her career to help the Cougars win two critical road WCC games. For the week, Purcell averaged 11.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.0 blocks. She shot 37.5 percent from the field and 78.6 percent from the charity stripe in road wins at Santa Clara and San Francisco.
In the road win at Santa Clara, Purcell played all 40 minutes and picked up her sixth double-double of the season with 17 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. The 17 points were a new BYU career-high for the junior forward. Purcell also dished out three assists and had team bests in blocks with two and tied for team- and game-highs in steals with three.
In the road win at San Francisco, Purcell had a game- and career-high nine assists and contributed six points, grabbed four rebounds and tied for game highs in steals with two.
