Rydalch Named WCC Player of the Week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named its Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for February 1, 2016.

Lexi Eaton Rydalch had a historic weekend while averaging 34.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.0 steals to lead the Cougars to two road wins over LMU and Pepperdine this week to keep BYU atop of the WCC standings tied for first place. The victories extend the Cougars win streak to 10. 

In Thursday’s win at LMU, Rydalch’s game high 31 points passed Alex Cowling to become the WCC’s all-time leading scorer. The points were season bests at that time. With 12 rebounds in the game, she recorded her third double-double of the year. Rydalch also dished out three assists while going 5 of 8 from 3-point range. 

Against Pepperdine, she tied her career-high in points and surpassed her point total from Thursday’s LMU game by six, with another game-high of 37 points. She grabbed seven rebounds and had two steals while going 8 of 9 from the free throw line. 

Rydalch had a total of 68 points, 19 rebounds, three assists and two steals in the two road victories. She shot 56.4 percent from the field, 61.5 percent from 3-point range and 69.6 percent at the free throw line.
