Gonzaga’s Domantas Sabonis Named WCC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named its Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for December 21, 2015.

Sophomore forward Domantas Sabonis had another big week in a pair of Gonzaga victories. After posting 21 points and 12 rebounds in an 86-50 win over Saint Martin's, he dominated Tennessee at the Battle in Seattle. Against the Vols, Sabonis was unstoppable, posting 36 points and 16 rebounds -- both career-highs -- on 12-of-16 from the field and 12-of-15 from the free throw line. His career night helped GU hold on for an 86-79 win at Key Arena.

For the week, Sabonis knocked down 22-of-29 (.759) from the field and 13-of-16 (.813) from the free throw line while posting two double-doubles with an average of 28.5 points and 14.0 rebounds. His 36 points against Tennessee marked the second-highest scoring game by any player in the WCC this season, and his two double-doubles gave him five for the season, which ties him for the league lead.

Also Nominated: Jared Brownridge, Santa Clara; Kyle Collinsworth, BYU; Steven Haney Jr., Loyola Marymount; Alec Kobre, Pacific; Dane Pineau, Saint Mary's; Jett Raines, Pepperdine
