San Diego Falls To Michigan In WNIT Third Round

ANN ARBOR, Mich - The University of San Diego women's basketball team saw its season come to an end in the Sweet 16 round of the WNIT Tuesday evening with a 78-51 loss to the University of Michigan at the Crisler Center.

With the loss, the Toreros finish the season with a 25-8 overall record, marking the second most wins in program history. With the win, the Wolverines improve to 20-13 overall, and will advance on to the quarterfinal round and play the winner of the Temple and Ohio game.

Malina Hood led the USD scoring effort with 16 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the field, while pulling down six rebounds. Sydney Williams was the final Torero in double figures, as she had 10 on 5-of-13 shooting form the field, while Maya Hoodadded in eight points and nine rebounds.

As a team, USD shot 35.7% from the field, while the Wolverines shot 58.0% from the floor. USD was out rebounded 32-27, and the Toreros committed 15 turnovers, to Michigan's 16.

For the Wolverines, Katelynn Flaherty led the way with a game-high 24 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field, while Madison Ristovski had 14 points and Hallie Thome added in 16 more points.
