San Diego's Kirby (Player) and Cornish (Pitcher) Sweep Rawlings Weekly Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named its Rawlings Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week for March 28, 2016. 

WEST COAST CONFERENCE RAWLINGS PLAYER OF THE WEEK – RYAN KIRBY, JR., IF – SAN DIEGO 
Junior first baseman Ryan Kirby led the San Diego offense to a 3-1 record this past week, picking up a mid-week win over Arizona State, then helping the Toreros win their first West Coast Conference series of the season at Pepperdine. 

Kirby went 7-for-14 with two home runs and seven RBI.  Kirby went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI in USD's win over ASU.  He then capped the week with a 3-for-5 one home run and two RBI performance against Pepperdine in the series clinching win.  He managed to record multiple RBI in three of the four games.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE RAWLINGS PITCHER OF THE WEEK – GARY CORNISH, SR., RHP – SAN DIEGO
Senior right-hander Gary Cornish posted a 2-0 record this past week, picking up a win over Arizona State, then having his best pitching performance of the season in Sunday’s 7-2 win at Pepperdine.  Cornish (3-1) allowed just two runs, while scattering six hits in his longest outing of the year, 8.0 innings. Cornish also manage to record a season-high 11 strikeouts in the victory.
